This was a sight no one would ever have believed would come to pass. Macavity was settled into the chair with a tiny bundle of blanket in his arm. Living proof that Macavity had a heart in the form of the little sleeping body resting in his arms. The strange thing was, Macavity never expected this to be a part of his life, either. Never before would he have imagined having kittens of his own. But here he was, holding a tiny life that was half him.

The strangeness did not stop there. Macavity was smiling, not one of his dangerous smiles, not the ones he gave when he was giving an alibi. No, he had a genuine smile on his lips and looked more relaxed than the Mystery cat ever did. He chuckled and pressed a kiss to the baby's forehead. Maybe the Jellicle cats would never accept that Macavity had settled down. Maybe no one would ever believe the Mystery cat had been changed for the better by the last jewel he ever stole. But they mattered very little to Macavity. He had Victoria. And now, he had another jewel in his life. One he hadn't even stolen. This one had been given to him.

Victoria had, in some small part of herself, come to accept that perhaps there was something to all the talk when Macavity was concerned. She never spoke of it, and never stopped defending him, but somewhere she did know that perhaps she was being a little too naive.

The thing of it was, however, that what she also knew with unshakable confidence was that the good she had always seen in him was not a lie, no matter what other things might also be true. And she also knew that she could not leave him, because if she did who else would ever hold him again?

And now they had a child. A little miracle created by them, and Victoria had never been happier, which was saying something considering her generally sunny disposition.

She entered the room, her smile radiant as she looked at the tom who would have her heart for as long as it could beat and the little bundle in his arms.

"He always sleeps better in your arms than mine. I don't blame him."

Macavity's embrace was her haven as well, and always kept bad dreams at bay.
